Molzym has developed new technologies for the nucleic acid-based detection of microbial pathogens in complex specimens. MolYsis comprises a pre-analytical tool for the molecular analysis of bacteraemia and infections of other complex systems. MolYsis is a new system for the targeted isolation of bacterial DNA by selective lysis of associated cells of higher organisms like blood cells and the degradation of non-target human DNA. Using this pre-analytical treatment increases the sensitivity and specificity of PCR and Real-Time PCR assays. MolYsis is the new technology for enhanced PCR analysis of pathogens in blood and other specimens. By the simple treatment of blood cell lysis and human DNA degradation, pure pathogen DNA is isolated. The result is an increase of the PCR analytical sensitivity of up to 20,000-fold compared to total DNA isolation systems, allowing the detection of 1 genome equivalent per assay. No false signals arise as the result of unspecific primer binding to human DNA.

MolYsis Basic kits can be combined with any other DNA isolation kits, whether manual or automatic. We now provide MolYsis Basic 10 Sample pre-treatment kits for large sample volumes of 5-10 ml and with the 1 ml and 5 ml protocol, smaller sample volumes < 1 ml can be processed for background-free PCR analysis of whole blood and various liquid sample types.

MolYsis Complete5 is a kit that includes all steps from human DNA removal to the isolation of pathogen DNA from 1 ml or 5 ml whole blood. We now also provide MolYsis Complete 10 Sample pre-treatment and bacterial DNA isolation kits for large sample volumes of 5-10 ml and with the 1 ml and 5 ml protocol, smaller sample volumes < 1 ml can be processed for background-free PCR analysis of whole blood and various liquid sample types.

The MolYsis Plus kit is adapted for blood cultures, removing strong PCR inhibitors.

With the MolYsis technology all kinds of liquid samples, e.g., blood, CSF, BAL, joint aspirates, ascites and cell culture can now be processed. MolYsis enables up to 40,000-fold better sensitivity in molecular microbiology applications based on depletion of human background DNA combined with the specific enrichment of microbial DNA.
