MolTaq is a very active thermostable DNA-dependent DNA polymerase from Thermus sp.. The enzyme has 5’-3’ polymerase, 5’-3’ exonuclease (strand displacement) and 3’ terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (addition of single dATP to the duplex DNA) activities. MolTaq incorporates modified nucleotides at high rates and can be used to introduce new restriction sites into an amplification product. MolTaq Basic is a PCR kit containing highly active MolTaq and a PCR buffer which contains no magnesium. MolTaq Basic is especially suitable for optimisation of PCR conditions using different magnesium concentrations. MolTaq 16S is an outstanding Taq DNA polymerase which facilitates the reliable and sensitive detection of bacterial DNA targets in samples using PCR or Real-Time PCR. MolTaq 16S is free from amplifiable DNA (>220 bp) and has an extremely high activity. The enzyme is particularly useful for PCRs involving primers for conserved regions of the bacterial 16S or 23S rRNA gene.
