We’re pleased to introduce Carole Allen, VH Bio’s Custom Services Manager and learn about her role, her hobbies and her personality!
Describe what your job entails:
Too much to list here as I am the busiest of all the VH Bio employees : )
What is your career and/or education background?
A very long career, not enough space to list it all here, unfortunately. I am about to retire in a couple of months’ time.
What is your favourite part of the job?
The constant variety and never knowing what the day is going to present me with, relationships with the customers & of course working with my wonderful colleagues.
In your opinion, what is the greatest advancement in the history of science?
The discovery of DNA without a doubt, but also IVF.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A PE Teacher.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel to new places. Long walks (has to have a café/pub somewhere en-route) with hubby & our Border Terrorist, Otto. HIIT sessions. Running. Going to the Movies. Socialising. Reading. Cycling. And most recently, looking after my 4-month-old granddaughter, Esme. Blimey, just as well I’m retiring as looking back over that I don’t know how I fit work in!
If you could be any animal, what you be and why?
I would be a Manatee – Graceful, gentle and a herbivore. Everything I would like to be.
What was the first car you owned?
It was a gold Fiat X19. What the heck was I thinking???

Anything described in Q7 – Sunshine compulsory.
What annoys you?
Arrogance, liars, bad Manners & thoughtless drivers – especially when I am on my bike!
If you were king or queen for a day, what one law would you change or introduce?
All MP’s must take a lie detector test.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Paella.
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
A Leatherman, box of matches & a Satellite phone.
What is the first concert you attended?
Simply Red at Gateshead Stadium
