VH Bio is pleased to announce that EKF Diagnostics have chosen us as the official and exclusive UK distributor of their molecular transport medium, PrimeStore MTM®.
EKF diagnostics experienced high global demand during the COVID-19 pandemic for their PrimeStore® MTM molecular transport medium, a vital tool for laboratories researching and fighting the pandemic. The company expanded into larger manufacturing facilities during the pandemic to increase the production, but is now in a position where it has been able to consolidate its manufacturing within its US and European manufacturing facilities. The distribution contract with VH Bio allows them to continue to reliably serve existing customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland as well as to begin supporting new clients.
In a statement to existing customers, EKF Diagnostics said, “There is no change to the product or product codes that you have previously purchased, we have simply transferred all remaining stock to VH Bio as they are much better positioned to be able to continue servicing your needs when it comes to molecular transport medium, as well as host of other life sciences research and diagnostics.”
PrimeStore® MTM – A novel viral transport media for infectious diseases
PrimeStore MTM has been a vital tool during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic for healthcare, education and industry for COVID-19 testing programmes. It is a novel sample collection device that allows laboratories to streamline their sample collection and testing processes. Pathogenic samples from swabs can be rapidly inactivated in the collection tube, avoiding contamination whilst preserving and stabilising RNA and DNA with no requirement for refrigeration.
EKF Diagnostic’s molecular transport medium removes the need for cold chain storage and enables immediate testing without need for containment in the laboratory, making it faster, more cost-efficient, and safer for sample collection.
PrimeStore MTM is designed to deactivate pathogenic samples rapidly and stabilise the RNA and DNA for up to four weeks with no requirement for cold storage. It inactivates infectious biological pathogens including viruses, and gram-positive/negative bacteria whilst preserving and stabilising labile DNA and RNA for downstream molecular applications.
A key advantage of choosing this molecular transport medium is that the CE-marked sample collection device allows lab teams to process multiple tests from a single sample that has been inactivated and stabilised.
