An interview with Marianna, our new Sales and Purchase Ledger Assistant

Meet Marianna Fructuozo da Silva, who joined our team in June as Sales and Purchase Ledger Assistant!

Describe what your job entails.

As a Sales & Purchase Ledger Assistant, I handle the daily maintenance of the sales and purchase ledger processes. This includes making sure that every transaction is processed smoothly, efficiently, and on time, all while adhering to company procedures, compliance standards, legal requirements and liaising with customers on special requirements.

What is your career and/or educational background?

I have over 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry, where I held a variety of roles including Food and Beverage Manager, Cost Controller, and later Purchase Ledger Clerk. These positions gave me a strong foundation in both operations and finance and helped develop my skills in finance.

I originally graduated in Logistics and Industrial Production in Brazil and I’m currently studying Business at Bath Spa University. Over time, I discovered a real passion for finance, which led me to shift my career direction toward more financially driven roles.

Joining VH Bio has been an exciting step in my career, allowing me to bring my finance skills into a dynamic and highly innovative industry. I’m excited to grow within the team and contribute to VH Bio’s continued success.

In your opinion, what is the greatest advancement in the history of science?

In my opinion, vaccines – they’ve saved millions of lives by preventing deadly diseases.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Singer, I used to sing in a professional band in Brazil.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I really enjoy planning new trips and helping my friends with theirs—I like being involved in every step of the process. Besides travel, I enjoy watching series and movies, listen to music, trying out new foods, and reading about interesting places. I also love recording music videos to share on my Instagram page.

What is your favourite animal?

I do love all the felines, especially cats.

What was the worst job you’ve ever had?

It was in a restaurant in Portugal; I had long shifts and one day off. No life balance.

Describe your perfect weekend.

My perfect weekend involves exploring a new city, visiting interesting museums, and trying a variety of local foods. I enjoy discovering hidden spots and tasting different dishes with my family.

What is your favourite film?

I really like A Walk to Remember but also could be The Devil Wears Prada (I can’t decide between them).

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Churrasco (A very traditional Brazilian food.) I could eat it every day.

What is on your bucket list?

The Route 66

A road trip to Alaska

Complete all the 50 States of United States of America (I have done 9 so far).

What is the first concert you attended?
