OptiSlides Cell Slides are precision-engineered tools designed for scientists and imaging specialists to troubleshoot, calibrate, and demonstrate high-end fluorescence microscope performance. With vibrant, multi-channel fluorescence and sub-resolution targets, these slides are ideal for use across confocal, widefield, multiphoton, and STED super-resolution systems.
Advanced Fluorescent Reference Slides for Modern Microscopy
Each slide features cultured mouse fibroblast cells stained with:
- DAPI (nuclei)
- Phalloidin (stress fibres)
- Peroxisomes (~150 nm, ideal for super-resolution)
- Plus either Vimentin or Paxillin
Slides are available in:
- 4-colour, 4-channel configuration
- 6-channel format, adding Near Infrared fluorophores (735 nm & 785 nm laser lines)
These updated 4- and 6-channel formats replace outdated 3-colour reference slides, delivering improved performance for today’s multi-channel fluorescence imaging and spectral detection workflows.
6-Channel Near Infrared (NIR) Configuration Available
In addition to the 4-colour format, Mouse Fibroblast slides are available in a 6-channel configuration incorporating Near Infrared (NIR) fluorophores (730 nm and 785 nm excitation).
This extended format enables:
- Validation of filter sets and detector performance across visible and NIR wavelengths
- Chromatic integrity assessment
- Image registration accuracy in X, Y and Z
- Sub-resolution target verification
- Multi-channel alignment and bleed-through evaluation

Built-In Technical Excellence
- Peroxisomes (~150 nm) serve as sub-resolution targets for testing optical performance at the nanoscale
- Grown directly on a #1.5 coverslip for optimal imaging compatibility
- Mounted in Vectashield Vibrance, a hardening medium with a refractive index of 1.47
- Short-term storage at room temperature in the included OptiSlides case
- Long-term storage at 4–8°C recommended (not sealed)
- Reusable: simply clean with ethanol and lens paper for multiple imaging sessions
Customisation Available
We are actively developing co-localisation double-stained versions and slides with custom fluorophores optimised for STED super-resolution of peroxisomes.
