Celebrating Julie’s 20 Years at VH Bio

This August, we were delighted to celebrate a very special milestone as our Commercial Assistant, Julie Wise, marked 20 years with VH Bio!

Over the past two decades, Julie has been an integral part of the business, supporting colleagues, customers and the continued growth of the company. To celebrate her anniversary, we caught up with Julie and Managing Director Alison Wortley to reflect on her journey, the memories she’s made and what makes VH Bio such a special place to work.

Two decades of Responsive Support & Service

Looking back on her time at VH Bio, Julie says the company’s commitment to customer service has remained at the heart of everything it does.

“I have to be honest that even back when I started, everyone at VH Bio has always been driven to do everything they can for our customers. Over the years we have just grown as a company to ensure that we keep providing that service.

“Everyone within their own departments strives to reach targets set for the year but of course I have to big up my department as we keep the Finance, Distribution and Laboratory Services side of the business going brilliantly!” 🤩😜

Julie joined VH Bio in 2006, initially as Purchase Ledger. As the business evolved, so did her role.

“My role when I started was mainly Purchase Ledger, then as the years progressed, when Carole and Pauline dropped down days and/or retired I took on some of their Customer Services and Credit Control responsibilities and assist Phil (Finance Manager) wherever needed.”

Her willingness to take on new responsibilities has made her an invaluable member of the team and a familiar face across multiple areas of the business.

A valued member of the VH Bio family

Managing Director Alison Wortley has worked alongside Julie since she joined the company and has seen first-hand the impact she has made over the last 20 years.

“I remember the day Julie joined the company, and from that moment, credit control was in very safe hands. Over the past 20 years, she has become an incredibly valued member of the team, demonstrating unwavering loyalty, dedication and professionalism throughout.”

Alison also feels that Julie‘s contributions have extended beyond her day-to-day responsibilities.

“What has always set Julie apart is her ability to combine exceptional expertise with a genuine warmth and kindness. She approaches everything she does with professionalism, while never losing sight of the human side of her role. Her calm, considerate manner and willingness to help others have earned her the respect and appreciation of colleagues across the business.”

Favourite memories along the way

After 20 years with the company, Julie has built plenty of memories.

“There’s been good times and sad times, especially when colleagues who have become best friends have left the company, but milestone achievements by the company are always good ones to remember!

“Attending the Daisy Ball in London for Carole’s retirement was an amazing night, but generally when we all manage to get together, particularly at Christmas, we all have a great time. Headlam Hall Christmas nights have got to be up there with some of the best as they always had a band called Striking Back (a Status Quo tribute band) performing, always a favourite of Andrew Hewitt!”

“Our Annual Sales Meetings have become quite a couple of days also – this year was enjoyable helping out in the woodland that Ali Wortley owns.”

For Alison, it’s the little things that make Julie such a valued colleague.

“Julie has also brought so much more than her work to the office. Whether it’s her festive Christmas displays, thoughtful birthday decorations or the welcome supply of fresh eggs whenever they’re needed, she helps make the workplace a warmer and happier place for everyone.”

Looking ahead

Reflecting on the milestone, Julie said:

“I feel it’s a big achievement to get to 20 years. I love my job and hope there are many more years to come.”

Alison couldn’t agree more.

“Julie, thank you for your hard work, reliability and the positive impact you have had over the last 20 years. Your contribution has been truly invaluable, and we look forward to celebrating many more happy and successful years with you.”
